get down girl go head get down.

I had a Black Eyed Peas phase. It was several years ago and, I think it made me feel musically cultured to add them to my list of favorites that most likely included Elliot Smith, The Police and Jimmy Eat World. But I’m not sure what the BEPs were thinking when they sat down to write their latest hit. Maybe the conversation went something like this….

Fergie – “I’m thinking we need to write the dumbest song ever and because we sing it, it will transcend musical barriers and will most likely climb the charts.”

The other three Peas, in unison of course – “Yea, that’s a great idea. Let’s call it ‘My Humps.’”

So maybe I’m not in love with a song about getting you love drunk of my humps, my humps, my lovely lady lumps, but I am a little obsessed with Gold Digger by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx.

So, for your reading pleasure and because it makes me laugh that I like this, I give you a few choice lyrics from Mr. West and Mr. Foxx.
"Now I aint sayin she a gold digger (When I'm Need) But she aint messin wit no broke niggaz(She did me wrong) Now I aint sayin she a gold digger (When I'm need) but she aint messin wit no broke niggaz. get down girl go head get down (I gotta leave) get down girl go head get down (I gotta leave) get down girl go head get down (I gotta leave) get down girl go head.

Jessi - my sister, Tandy, turned me on to your blog a little while ago. I must say, I absolutely love reading what you write! This latest post really hit home with me because I, too, love 'Gold Digger'! I do have a confession to make...I like 'My Humps' as well! Oh well, what can you do? Sometimes we are surprised at the things we enjoy!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your 'baby weight' post. I am 27 and for the past year and a half I have been hounded by family members to produce offspring, however my husband & I aren't quite ready for that yet. Just wanted to drop a line to let you know how much I enjoy reading what you have to say!

Thank you for reading! I'm so glad you enjoy it. It's funny, today in the KC Star, there was a bit about "My Humps" and they called it, I think, the song you love to hate and hate to love. And on my way to work today, it came on the radio. Ironic? Maybe.

Hang in there on the baby bit. If more of us wait until we are really ready, it will be come more normal.

Jessi, I'm with you regarding both songs. I have a lot of respect for Kanye West (and not just because he's a Chicagoan!) and I thought the Black Eyed Peas were better than "My Humps". I thought Fergie had more respect for herself than to objectify her body in a song, but I guess when you become famous, it's hard not to bow to the pressure of using sex to sell your music.
