zzzzzzzzz.
i had a nice weekend. met some friends for happy hour friday. hung out with amy saturday. had date night saturday night in lawrence complete with sushi. and then sunday went to a super bowl party. but then sunday night, i didn't sleep. again. at all. well, maybe three hours. here and there. pieced between pain and anxiety dreams and heating pads and gulps of water.
and today, i had to be at work from an 8 a.m. meeting. which means i got here at 7:45. which means i woke up at 6 a.m. which means i really just stopped 'not sleeping' at 6 a.m. you know, cause i'd been awake all night.
and now it's 3 p.m. and i'm exhausted. absolutely. bleary-eyed.
ugh.

A few suggestions that I follow. Caffeine stays in circulation for 12 hours after consumption... so moderation is key. Don't watch television in the same room you sleep. Moderate exercise is key as you approach bedtime... heavy exercise should only be earlier in the day. (Like this is possible.) Avoid stimulating activities as you approach bedtime. Don't discount a nice glass of milk before retiring.. hope this helps a little.

I was spying on some earlier posts and found that you love coffee, too. Might have something to do with not sleeping, esp. when you are stressed and the mind won't shut off. I had this problem last summer (with not being able to stop my head from "working" all night.)
Yes, avoid stimulating activities unless they are the kind that have a big AH at the end that makes some people sleepy afterwards. : )
I was going to say "maybe it's age," but you are 10 years from that (at least!).
You might just be sick with something, too. The body is telling you something.
Finally, the suggestions for reading, etc., I agree, but (again, reading something you wrote), maybe reading the Bible or praying / meditating / quieting the mind would work for you, too.
And, I don't know if Kolby has a crate or is freerange at night, but I have found all pets to be hindrances to uninterrupted sleep.
